Morning shadows stretch long,
Fingers grasping at thin air,
Trying to slow time
That slips through
The mysterious space between.
Another hour drops
To the abyss of sliding sand.
Sun’s journey moves toward afternoon,
High in the sky,
A giant on his pillar,
But even he falls.
Red kisses the western horizon,
Swallowing the light
As darkness claims another day.
