Going through my old artwork, I was amazed at how many pieces I’ve managed to produce over the years, despite drawing is not my primary medium for expression (writing is). So, I thought I’d start a new weekly blog post on my site where I share a piece of artwork with you. 🙂
This one is from 2001, copied from a book my parents had on Egypt. I went through a phase in college (1998-2001) where I was into Egyptology. Before I became immersed in fiction, I used to read nonfiction, especially books on ancient Egypt. The way the old statues from that time seem to peer out into nothingness, not looking at you, but looking through you, intrigued me. There is a quality of mystery that puts me a bit on edge just looking at those pupil-less eyes.
What do you like when it comes to art? Are you an artist? What’s your medium? Thanks for sharing on this new journey with me, and don’t forget to check back next Thursday for another piece of art from your truly!
